A haiku for starters:

Gosh how time has flown,
Two years gone by just like that
It scares me deeply

Beltane 2020 was a blast. I had a very busy weekend. Initially I attended the local astronomy camp where I got to let loose and be passionate about stargazing, before a speedy drive back to town to attend one of my favorite annual events ever, bonfire night at my good friend’s house. The bonfire night was utterly magical. A powerful evening of being present and becoming as passionate as the bonfire itself. I stayed the night there in my tent and felt very at peace for many days afterwards.

2021

Last year was very different from the one before. We were partway through a Delta-made COVID lockdown.

I made the call not to attend the astronomy camp due to logistics not working in my favour.

I met the love of my life last August and together with the cautious permission of my friends we had a more intimate bonfire evening with camembere-filled buns, veges for dipping, entertainment provided by a lively 18 month old, and chocolate fondue with toasted marshmallows.

it was a delight to combine the passion of the fire’s energy with the passionate love I was feeling for my partner, and for my friends and their toddler. I began once more to feel hope for the future.

Closing haiku:

The fire makes us whole.
It brings us all together
Passion, love and hope.

Thank-you all for reading.
